Why I Started Better Products
I started Better Products out of equal parts frustration and curiosity.
After years of creating online products and working in product management, I realized that finding truly great software had become harder, not easier. Review aggregators like G2, TrustPilot, and Capterra were overflowing with noise — anonymous ratings, outdated screenshots, and endless “ultimate solution” claims.
The reality is that many apps today are good but not yet great. And the ones that are great often don’t get the thoughtful attention they deserve. I wanted to change that, and challenge myself with a new project in the process.
Better Products began as a simple experiment: could a small, editorial-style site — written by people who actually use the software — make the discovery process more trustworthy, more human, and frankly, more enjoyable?

We write with the belief that software isn’t just code — it’s behavior design, creativity, and problem-solving. Our goal is to help you separate signal from noise and discover tools that make your digital life better, not busier.
Who’s Behind It
I’m Adam Treister, a Director of Product at Rocket Companies, and a longtime builder of marketplaces and platforms — from Udemy and HackerOne to Acorns and Rocket. Over the last fifteen years, I’ve led teams building products for 10's of millions of users across education, cybersecurity, and finance.
Better Products is a side project I run with a small team of editors, designers, and researchers who share a love for great software and honest writing. Together, we’re experimenting with how reviews can feel more like storytelling — grounded in data, but told with personality.
Our Vision
Better Products exists to bring clarity, trust, and human perspective to software reviews. As the site grows, we plan to expand from individual app write-ups into deeper comparisons, workflow guides, and eventually, video reviews.
The goal isn’t to cover everything — it’s to cover what’s worth your attention.
